Job Summary: Responsible for the assignment of codes for all diagnoses and procedures identified on outpatient and inpatient records using ICD-9-CM, CPT, E/M (with modifiers) and procedural codes as required. Coding specialists are responsible for maintaining their own work schedules in accordance with established staffing guidelines and are responsible for problem-solving within their scope of work.
Job Requirements: Associates degree preferred. Certification required. 1-2 years experience is required. RHIT or RHIA eligible for a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician (CCS-P) preferred.
