  • Position Summary

    Provides patient care, identifying and implementing nursing interventions, and evaluating outcomes.  This position holder is responsible for behaviors and functions identified in essential duties, assumes ongoing competency, and participates in quality improvement.  Care is provided to all ages with problems ranging from simple, non-urgent to complex, life-threatening conditions.  All documentation, tracking and aftercare is electronic and computer-based.

    Job Qualifications

    Special Qualifications (licensure, registration, etc.)

    1.       Certifications required before end of conditional period; suspension if certification lapses

    2.       Colorado Nursing License in good standing

    3.       ACLS certification

    4.       PALS or ENPC certification

    5.       TNCC certification for full time staff only

    6.       NRP – Neonate Resuscitation Program once during first year of employment

    7.       CEN desirable

    Knowledge, Skill and Ability

    1.       Demonstrated physical and mental ability to apply nursing theories, procedures and emergency nursing standards to clinical practice

    2.       Critical Care monitoring skills: cardiac monitoring, respiratory assessment and management, trauma specific assessment and procedures

    3.       Computer and keyboard skills are desirable

    Experience

    One year RN clinical experience in ED, Critical Care or Telemetry preferred.

    Materials and Equipment Directly Used

    Standard medical/hospital equipment:  including portable gurneys, wheelchairs, IV pump infusers, point of service laboratory testing, monitoring equipment, computers, phone and intercom system, pacemakers, defibrillators, airway management aids, Pyxis, etc.

    Working Environment/Physical Activities

    1.       Physical working environment may include, but not be limited to, any of the following hazards:  chemical, electrical, mechanical, biowaste, explosive, radiation, etc.

    2.       Environmental conditions may include, but not be limited to, variations in temperature, noise, odors, etc.

    3.       While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to constantly stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch and twist. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, squat and sit.

    4.       The employee must be able to consistently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 10 pounds, frequently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally support, push, pull and/or transfer up to 50 pounds (for example, moving a patient from a wheelchair to a bed).

    5.       Functional physical demands include manual dexterity, fine motor skills and reaching. The following senses will be needed for essential duties of the job: speech, vision, hearing, smell and touch.

    6.       Rotating between Foothills and Broadway campus is an expectation of the position.  The minimum expectation is one shift per month at the secondary campus.  Exception is crisis staffing when this minimum number will increase.
