    The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital is recognized as one of the ten largest free-standing pediatric research centers in the US, conducting leading research in multiple areas including developmental biology, childhood cancer, and microbial pathogenesis. We are performing cutting edge genomics research in the areas of human genetics, epigenetics and transcriptional regulation using both DNA microarray based technologies and next-generation sequencing with the state-of-the art Illumina HiSeq 2000 instrument. We are looking for Bioinformatics Scientists to join our dynamic team to assist with data management, computational analysis and interpretation of large genomic data sets. The individual will work collaboratively with scientists on projects that lead to journal publications and presentations at professional meetings.

     

    Qualifications

     

    ·        Bachelors degree in life sciences, computer science or mathematical subject and/or IT background required

    ·        MS/PhD or 2 years relevant work experience, in computational biology or bioinformatics desired

    ·        Experience with UNIX/LINUX and proficiency in a text processing language (Perl or Python) desired

    ·        Familiarity with the computational biology tools used in DNA sequence and gene expression data analysis

    ·        Experience with R or other environments for statistical computing desired

    ·    Excellent verbal and written communication skills will be essential
