GENERAL SUMMARY The Chaplain is responsible for providing emotional and spiritual care to patients and family members, and to staff, to assist individuals in dealing with stressful situations. Demonstrates competencies defined (*) in Chaplain responsibilities in providing age-appropriate care, spiritual assessment and bereavement support to families and patients from the age of birth through 21 years, and select adult patients. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -
Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from an accredited seminary, or equivalent. -
Ordination and endorsement by denomination. -
Eligible for certification, or in process for certification by the Association of Professional Chaplains, National Association of Catholic Chaplains, or National Association of Jewish Chaplains. -
Completion of four units of Clinical Pastoral Education. -
Parish ministry experience preferred. -
Strong communication and interpersonal skills required in interactions with patients and families, department and hospital staff, external clergy, other institutions, and the public. -
Ability to respond appropriately in sensitive situations. MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS -
