GENERAL SUMMARY
A postdoctoral position is immediately available for a motivated individual within the Center for Microbial Pathogenesis to study the role of innate immunity in the polymicrobial disease otitis media. This position is funded by grants from NIH/NIDCD. The fellow will work under the mentorship of an established Principal Investigator and Senior Research Scientists formulating hypotheses and designing experiments for further investigation. The candidate is expected to prepare abstracts, annual reports, scientific papers and presentations. Experience in a majority of the following techniques is desired: cell culture, protein purification, molecular biology, animal modeling of diseases, and histology. Applicants with an interest in molecular mechanisms underlying polymicrobial diseases are encouraged to apply. The fellow will work toward a goal of becoming independent in his/her research effort, become responsible for supervising technicians and student trainees and eventually obtaining external research funding.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
1. MD, Ph.D, Pharm.D., or equivalent degree.
2. Desire to pursue a career in biomedical research, and knowledge of the research process.
3. Necessary technical skills in the appropriate area of research.
4. Ability to do technical writing, and good communication skills.
