SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse - Wound Care provides direct patient care of inpatients and/or outpatients. Assumes the primary responsibility and accountability for the delivery of patient care, including care provided by those directly under his/her direction, such as the Wound Care Technician and any other non-licensed provider of care. Innovations improve work procedures and methods and primarily result in some time and cost savings. The job duties are to provide evaluations and treatments of patients primarily with wounds that may involve some invasive procedures. Communications are required inside and outside the work group to resolve mutual problems and to collaborate on work procedures. Communication with external contacts is for the provision of on-going service and handling of routine transactions, frequently detailed information. Is responsible for ensuring that satisfaction and service to internal and external contacts is maintained.
REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate of an approved RN program with BSN preferred. Minimum of four (4) years of experience required. One (1) year of wound care experience preferred in area of specialty. Certification required within five (5) years of assuming role for outpatient role. Current Maryland license as RN or licensure in a compact state that allows practice in Maryland. Must maintain current CPR certification. Must complete wound care competency approved by HCGH to perform sharp wound debridement for outpatient role. Must pass all hospital competencies required for the position.
