Job Summary: The Mental Health Technician assists with the care planning process, performs limited medical and psychiatric patient care, provides transport, and supervises patients while at activities, meetings, diagnostic testing and related activities as directed by the professional nurse/manager. Educational Requirements: | 1. Completion of high school education/or have obtained a GED certificate. | | 2. Completes psychoeducational group competency and phlebotomy training within six (6) months. | | 3. Attends programs that are required by regulatory and/or accreditation agencies as follows: - Environment of Care: - Bloodborne Pathogens Drug Free Workplace - CPR Hazardous Materials - Corporate Compliance Fire Safety Utilities Safety Risk Management Safe Medical Device Act Security AIDS | Experience Requirements: | 1. Must have AHA BLS for healthcare provider or ARC Professional Rescuer upon hire. | | 6. TEAM certification and basic water safety course within the first three months of employment. | | 7. Current Florida driver’s license. Must be insurable by hospital insurance provider. | Other Physical Requirements: | 1. Must be able to participate in both indoor and outdoor recreational activities with patients (i.e. volleyball, basketball, walking, and swimming activities). | | 2. Must be in good physical condition with no restrictions of movement. | | 3. Must be able to apply Therapeutic Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) Techniques without limitations. |
