- Experience is required PRIMARY JOB DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Transcribes medical dictation to provide a permanent record of patient care. 2. Demonstrates competency on designated word processing, dictation, transcription equipment, and other equipment as directed to complete assignments. 3. Demonstrates an understanding of the medicolegal implications and responsibilities related to the transcription of patient records to protect the patient and the institution. 4. Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the Health Information Management Services. 5. Expands job-related knowledge and skills to improve performance and adjust to change.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS 1. Education: High school graduate/equivalent or equivalent; medical terminology; anatomy and physiology courses or equivalent in work experience and continuing education. 2. Licensure: Certified medical transcriptionist (CMT) status preferred. 3. Experience: Two years prior medical transcription experience. 4. Skills: Type 65wpm with 98% accuracy; excellent oral/written communication skills; medical terminology including abbreviations; word processing skills. 5. Interpersonal: Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with co-workers. 6. Physical Demands: Primarily sedentary work, ability to sit and type for extended periods, continuous use of earphones, keyboard, monitor, and foot control. 7. Hours: Varies. 8. Other: Understands and follows rules of confidentiality.
