VCU Health System's MCV Trauma Program is seeking a full time Nurse Clinician / Burn Program Coordinator. The Burn Program Coordinator/Clinician is responsible for ensuring standards of the State of Virginia, the American Burn Association and the American College of Surgeons are met across the continuum of care. The Burn Program Coordinator works collaboratively with the Burn Center Medical Director and Nurse Manager to ensure timely review of clinical data, complications and variances in practice.
The Burn Program Coordinator/Clinician supports the registry requirement for verification by the American Burn Association, the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma and the Commonwealth of Virginia Burn Center designation standards. Demonstrates a high level of expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the complex patients and their responses to actual or potential health problems. Assists the health care team with the prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort. To provide direction, education, leadership and accountability for program development, implementation and evaluation in area of responsibility. Includes professional development and empowerment of staff as well as management of resources to promote desired outcomes with attention to quality, efficiency and cost. Has full authority and accountability for direction and leadership of program planning, guideline development, setting of practice standards within the confines of organizations/divisions/units mission, goals and objectives. Manages human, fiscal and other resources to ensure quality programs/processes/services with measurable positive outcomes
Current RN licensure in Virginia
Master's Degree in Nursing or a related field from an accredited program or within one semester of completion. If the Master's Degree is not in Nursing, then a Bachelors Degree in Nursing from an accredited program is required.
Five (5) years of relevant clinical experience with two (2) of those years of progressive leadership and/or supervisory experience
Previous experience using database applications
Previous experience utilizing care delivery documentation systems and related medical record documents
Academic health care experience
Previous burn or trauma clinical experience
Certification in Specialty area
Two years of burn experience, ED, or ICU
Previous work experience with data abstraction, coding and patient-focused research activities
Three (3) years of experience applying analytical, statistical and research methodology, preferably in a healthcare setting
Previous experience developing and monitoring clinical practice guidelines
