VCU Health System's IM-Dalton Oncology Clinic is seeking a Full-Time Nurse Patient Navigator. The Nurse Patient Navigator serves as an advocate, interpreter, educator and counselor for a group of oncology patients. As a member of the multidisciplinary team the Nurse Patient Navigator is responsible for ensuring patients receive quality and comprehensive services.
Follows documented physician/licensed independent provider orders.
Practices within the boundaries of the regulations governing the practice of nursing in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Practice is guided by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nursing and established national nursing practice standards. All practice is guided by and follows the VCUHS policies and procedures and established practice guidelines.
Organizes and plans work with input from the patient/family with specific outcomes and demonstrated use of sound clinical judgment and resources.
This position will work specifically with ENT/Head and Neck patients.
Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing
Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state
AHA BLS Certification
Specialty Nursing Certification – in either Nurse Navigation or Oncology within one year of hire in position
Minimum of three (3) years of relevant clinical experience in nursing, patient education; case management and/or navigation
Previous experience in the Oncology specialty area
Nurse Navigation or leadership experience
Masters Degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing
Experience working in a NCI Comprehensive Program
Experience within an academic, teaching hospital
Additional position requirements such as shift rotations, weekends, environment, etc
Positions are primarily weekday work but may be expected to work into the evening or on the weekend. May be required to go to all Massey Cancer Center locations.
