The Hume-Lee Liver Transplant Clinic provides a variety of services to patients and their families. We care for pre- and post- transplant patients for their medical and surgical needs across the age continuum. We are a national leader in liver, kidney, and pancreas transplants for adults and children.
VCU Health System's Transplant Program Administration is seeking a full time Transplant Coordinator. Their primary duties will be to demonstrate a high level of expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of the complex patients and their responses to actual or potential health problems; assist the health care team with the prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort; provide direction, education, and leadership; deliver and accurately document direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and an integrated, multidisciplinary plan of care; safely administer prescribed medications and identify incompatibilities and/or interactions; and Registered Nurse Transplant Coordinator manifests a high level of expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of the complex responses of individuals, families, or communities to actual or potential health problems, prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort for the pre and or post-transplant patient.
Follow documented physician/licensed independent provider orders within the boundaries of the Nurse Practice Act and established standards, policies and practice guidelines.
Organize and plan work with input from the patient/family with specific outcomes and demonstrated use of sound clinical judgment and resources.
On-call duties required 24/7.
Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing
Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible
AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent
Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience in transplant, critical care, or medical-surgical nursing
Two (2) years of progressive leadership experience
Demonstrated clinical expertise for population served with a minimum of one (1) year in specialty area
Master's Degree in Nursing or related field
Certification in Transplantation
Five (5) years of clinical experience in the transplant field
Academic Healthcare experience
Advanced Practice Nursing Role or Clinical Leadership experience
