VCU Health System's Trauma/Medical Emergency is seeking a hourly Trauma Tech. Under the supervision of a licensed independent practitioner, manager and/or Registered Nurse, in accordance with the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of nursing delegation and supervision guidelines, they will perform a variety of direct and indirect patient care activities. These include assistance with activities of daily living, comfort care and nutritional support, and performance of selected diagnostic and therapeutic tasks and procedures as directed. Indirect patient care activities include maintaining a clean safe environment, ensuring adequate inventory of supplies and equipment, and data collection as pertinent to the patient population.
May function independently under protocols approved by VCUHS Medical Director and hospital and departmental policy/procedure.
Functions under direction of a licensed independent practitioner, MD, and/or RN in providing patient care, emotional support, and problem solving; all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure.
Functions under departmental Standards of Practice (SOP) in the communications room and in the role of patient transport in collaboration with RN and Physician colleagues.
Current EMT-P certification in Virginia
Current AHA ACLS Certification
AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent
1 year of active pre-hospital service
Previous hazardous materials experience
