VCU Health System's Physical Medicine and Rehab is seeking a full time Athletic Trainer to assist with physician clinic with patient care and research in concussion/TBI in patients aged 5y-30y. Job may include evening and infrequent weekend work to meet with high school aged patients, teaching programming and clinic care with physician team. Job will be at multiple sites in the greater Richmond area. Must be able to work independent and as part of a team on various tasks.
Qualified applicant must be competent with concussions, traumatic brain injury, and related testing protocols and procedures. Additional competence with sports-related injuries, evaluation and treatment plan a plus. Must be able to educate and speak publicly for patient, provider and family education regarding concussion/TBI.... including but not limited to possible prognosis, rehab plan, informed consent for database design, as well as properly perform various related tasks.
Bachelors Degree in a specialized curriculum accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs
Licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as an Athletic Trainer
National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) Board of Certification (BOC)
Current CPR certification
Two (2) years previous athletic training experience
Training and education in concussion and traumatic brain injury
Up-to-date understanding of concussion and present research
Prior research work in concussion or similar areas
Previous work with ImPACT™, Concussion Vital Signs™ or similar software
