VCU Health System's Community Memorial Hospital Occupational Therapy Department is seeking a part time Occupational Therapist to conduct evaluations on referred patients. To plan and implement a comprehensive treatment program that includes discharge planning, patient/family education, and recommendations for follow-up or continued care. To document results of the OT evaluation and services provided in accordance with hospital and department guidelines. To participate as a member of a self-directed departmental team as well as a member of an interdisciplinary patient care team. To provide clinical instruction to OT and OTA students as needed. To provide training and education to department and hospital staff.
Evaluation and treatment of patients with routine diagnoses. Setting schedule and managing time. Reporting in interdisciplinary rounds. Goal setting for routine diagnoses. Completion of routine documentation. Interaction with the interdisciplinary team and self-directed work team. Customer interaction.
Occupational Therapist provides supervision for Rehab Technicians, COTA staff, volunteers and students doing clinical rotations.
Schedules and work hours will be established with your specific Manager. Schedules, including weekends and holidays, will be required based on the unit's organizational and staffing needs.
The position requires the provision of both land and aquatic OT services. Primarily work location is OP but will occasionally work in acute care.
Graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy
Licensed (or licensed eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as an Occupational Therapy
Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area
New graduate to up to 2 years of work experience as an Occupational Therapist
Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Occupational Therapy
Previous affiliation or work experience at a similar facility
Hand therapy experience would be a plus.
