The VCU Health Psychiatry is seeking a full time Behavioral Health Counselor-Child To provide direct clinical care, primarily for ages 3-17 on an outpatient basis with some rotational coverage on inpatient pediatric psychiatry at the Virginia Treatment Center for Children. Clinical services include initial psychosocial/diagnostic assessment, treatment planning, and the implementation of evidenced based therapeutic interventions for individual, family, and group services. Incumbent will have access to other therapists, physicians, nurses, and pharmacists when needed for clinical collaboration. The position may also be assigned to provide VCUHS HelpLink EAP services as designated.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire (Note: Required credentials are limited to those required by law, regulation, or professional standard.)
Licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Professional Counselor, Clinical Psychologist, Clinical Social Worker
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment including CPR, etc. (Note: Required credentials are limited to those required by law, regulation, or professional standard)
Current Virginia license as a Professional Counselor, Clinical Psychologist, or Clinical Social Worker
Level and type of experience REQUIRED
Minimum of three (3) years post licensure experience providing initial psychiatric evaluations and psychotherapy in an outpatient setting
Level and type of experience PREFERRED
One (1) year of previous experience providing EAP services
Previous experience providing threat assessments and fitness for work evaluations
Experience in providing substance use / addictions services.
Education/training REQUIRED (Note: work experience may be considered in lieu of credentials not required by law with HR approval. Eight years for undergraduate degree; Twelve years for Graduate degree. Work experience must be specific to role)
Masters or Doctoral level education in the field of psychology, social work, or counseling from an accredited program
