VCU Health System's IM – Specialties - Faculty is seeking a full time Certified Medical Assistant. This person provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the physician.
Functions under direction of a licensed independent practitioner, manager and/or RN in providing patient care, emotional support, and .problem solving; all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure.
Requires prior approval or guidance from supervisor: time/schedule changes; legal issues; directed care which deviates from standard; and identify educational resources to meet developmental needs.
Certified Medical Assistants work all three shifts, weekends and holidays. Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager.
Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet clinic requirements and/or as needed.
Graduate of a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Clinical Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA) by The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)
CMA or CCMA certification
Previous experience using a personal computer and various software applications, including Microsoft, e-mail, etc.
Strong organizational, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills
Previous experience as a Certified Medical Assistant or Clinical Certified Medical Assistant
