VCU Health's Substance Abuse is seeking a Full time Nurse Clinician. The Nurse Clinician demonstrates a high level of expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the complex patients and their responses to actual or potential health problems. Knowledge of medical issues, including substance withdrawal that could present as a behavioral issue. Excellent communication skills with interdisciplinary team members and comfort in escalating concerns in a professional manner. Ability to partner and collaborate with bedside nurses to coach and support them as they care for patients. Ability to develop and foster relationships with other team members. Ability to shift priorities quickly. Ability to stay calm and focused in an emergency situation and lend that calm to other team members. Physically able to walk much of the day
The Nurse Clinician has full authority and accountability for direction and leadership of program planning guideline development, setting of practice standards within the confines of organizations/divisions/units mission, goals and objectives. Manages human, fiscal and other resources to ensure quality programs/processes/services with measurable positive outcomes.
Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state
AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent
Minimum of five (5) years nursing experience
Master's Degree in Nursing, Health Administration, Business Administration, Public Health or closely related field from an accredited program or within one semester of completion. If the Master's Degree is not in Nursing, then it is required to have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program.
Five years of psychiatric nursing experience with preference to experience with children and adults
Advance Practice Nursing Role or Clinical Leadership Role experience
Experience in staff education and professional development (orientation, preceptorship, in-services education, etc.)
Academic health care experience
Masters Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
Certification in specialty area
