VCU Health System's IM-Dalton Oncology Clinic is seeking a Full-Time Certified Medical Assistant. This person provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the physician.
Functions under direction of a licensed independent practitioner, manager and/or RN in providing patient care, emotional support, and problem solving; all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure.
Requires prior approval or guidance from supervisor: time/schedule changes; legal issues; directed care which deviates from standard; and identify educational resources to meet developmental needs.
Certified Medical Assistants work all three shifts, weekends and holidays. Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager.
Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet clinic requirements and/or as needed.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
One (1) year of medical assistant work experience within the last three (3) years if individual is not a graduate of an accredited medical assistant program
No work experience if individual is a graduate of an accredited medical assistant program
High School Diploma or equivalent and
Graduate from a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) program preferred
Previous experience using a personal computer and various software applications, including Microsoft, e-mail, etc.
Strong organizational, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills
Two (2) to three (3) years of previous experience as a Certified Medical Assistant or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
Previous experience in an academic health care environment
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from an accredited program by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHE), or
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)
