VCUHealth System's Specialty Care Pharmacyis seeking a full time Pharmacy Manager to manage inpatient and/or ambulatory pharmaciesand provide leadership and oversight for pharmacy services. Oversees and isaccountable for expense and revenue budgets; provides leadership; and meetscustomer service objectives. Ensures and maintains compliance with all legal,regulatory and accreditation requirements. Supervise and directs assignedpharmacy staff providing inpatient and/or ambulatory services.
Providesleadership to meet staffing and service requirements of an active, busypharmacy.
Responds to patient service and other managerial issuesindependently.
Hires, disciplines and makes performance review decisions.
Handlesthe full range of supervisor responsibilities to include hiring, orienting,evaluating, disciplining and providing learning opportunities.
Coordinatesrecruitment and orientation of all employees as well as the training andeducation of pharmacy staff.
Supports staff development activities. Makesrecommendations for development activities and programs.
Developscompetency-based staff assessment standards and ensures that they are met.
Addressesperformance issues as they occur.
Maybe involved in teaching, both within the Pharmacy Department and in other areasof the hospital.
May be involved with student teaching, both from clerkshiprotations and didactic teaching. May assist with other items as needed.
Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited academic program
Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy
Minimum of three (3) years of previous work experience as a Pharmacist or completion of two (2) year residency program with focus in pharmacy administration plus one (1) year of work experience as a Pharmacist
Previous experience working with pharmacy information systems and automation
Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an accredited academic program
Five (5) or more years of previous work experience as a Pharmacist
One (1) or more years of supervisory or management experience specifically in outpatient pharmacy services
Previous experience with patient support programs (e.g., Ryan White, ADAP, VHCA 340B)
