VCU Health System's IM - Ryan White Program is seeking a full time Behavioral Health Counselor to provide a range of Mental Health services to eligible HIV infected patients in the Infectious Disease clinic. Services to be provided include but are not limited to: Biopsychosocial assessments, screening patients in need of psychiatry services, therapeutic treatment plans, support, education, and Mental Health therapy to HIV infected patients referred for services by medical providers under the Ryan White grant for those at risk of or non-adherent to medical care. Works closely with attending psychiatrist for consultation and referral for treatment. The population to be served may include: Adolescents, Adults, and Geriatric HIV infected patients.
Must be able to evaluate patients, formulate an accurate differential diagnosis, and develop and implement an appropriate course of treatment or referral.
Master of Social Worker Degree from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program
3 years post licensure experience providing psychiatric evaluations and mental health counseling in an outpatient setting.
Previous work experience providing individual, group, and/or family therapy in an acute psychiatric care setting or mental health outpatient facility
Experience working with mental health issues of diverse HIV infected individuals/issues that affect non-adherence to medical care.
