VCU HealthSystem's Social Work Department is seeking a Clinical Social Worker Supervisor.The Social Worker Supervisor is responsible for the supervision ofclinical social workers assigned to the Emergency Department. Tomanage the impact of social service delivery/case management as required in theEmergency Department; to support the mission and goals of the department; to provideboth direct patient care to patients and families and assist in thecoordination of team delivered services. Ensures that appropriatestaffing is available daily to meet the patient care needs of the ED;evaluates the performance of assigned staff (licensed and unlicensed) andtrainees, contributes to organizational annual performance evaluations; identifies disciplinary issues and communicates these issues tomanagement; and participate in program development and evaluation. Clinicalresponsibilities include completion of a psychosocial assessment for patientsidentified in need of social work services; development of treatment plans thatare congruent with the overall health care plan; implementation of psychosocialinterventions and therapies; education of patients, their family members,staff, social work students and trainees as assigned; facilitation of patient'scompliance with treatment; collaboration with the community to provide neededservices; interaction with utilization management if required; and coordinationof pre-hospital and discharge planning activities.
Initiate patient/family intervention based on self-assessment ofservice need(s).
Initiate consultation with facility staff regarding psychosocialpatient/family needs.
Initiate community/facility referrals based on identifiedpatient/family needs.
Contact the appropriate Social Services Department to reportsuspected abuse/neglect/exploitation cases.
Develop intervention plans and related interventions withpatients/families/significant others.
Initiate education activities with and for facility staff.
Contribute to quality improvement activities through self-analysisof services and needs.
Participate in service area meetings, training, and patient careconferences.
Ensurethat appropriate social work staffing is available daily to meet the patientcare needs of the assigned clinics ,onboarding and evaluatingthe performance of assigned social work staff; contributes to organizationalannual performance evaluations, identifiesdisciplinary issues and communicate these issues to the management.
Thisposition works a traditional forty (40) hour week, with scheduled evening hoursas needed to address patient needs. May occasionally be required to workalternate schedules depending on department needs. Weekend and holiday hoursare required on a rotational basis.
Masters ofSocial Work Degree from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accreditedprogram
LicensedClinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of Virginia required
Minimum ofseven (7) years of clinical social work experience to include two (2) years ina lead or supervisory role
Clinicalsocial work experience in an acute care setting
Experiencein an academic medical center or other teaching setting. Advancedtraining in evidence-based treatment approaches.
