VCU Health System's Imaging Safety and Compliance Office is seeking a full time Imaging Safety Educator to coordinate ,operate, develop and administer assigned functions of the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) safety program.Assists in the education, monitoring, evaluation and controlling imaging health and safety initiatives in clinical practice settings which requires specialized knowledge of Federal and Virginia state laws, regulations and imaging safety principles. Educates users of MRI equipment. Organizes, delivers and/or coordinates lecture presentations electronically, in person and/or lab-style demonstrations to faculty and staff. Performs student observations, evaluations and skill testing. Conducts inspections and makes recommendations. Recommends corrective action to assure compliance with health and safety codes and coordinate, operate, and administer imaging safety activities. Writes policies based on evidence based practices. Assists with coordination and administration of the Lead Protective Equipment and Personnel Exposure Monitoring Programs.
Management of assigned imaging safety programs/processes/services.
Will supervise Administrative Assistant to the Manager of Imaging Safety and Compliance.
Will generally work day shift, butmay require flexibility for special projects, training, or to meet organization and staff needs
Graduation from a JRCERT Accredited Program
Masters Degree in Clinical Radiationor Adult Education*
*Will consider candidates without a Masters Degree who become actively enrolled in a Masters Degree Program. Incumbent must achieve formal acceptance ina program within one (1) year and complete the degree requirements within five(5) years of acceptance into the program to remain in the position.
Current ARRT Certification
Minimum of five (5) years of previous didactic/clinical teaching experience in a JRCERT Accredited Program
Minimum of five (5) years ofclinical imaging and post-primary clinical experience in an academic medical center environment
Eight (8) years of didactic and/orclinical teaching experience in a JRCERT Program
Seven (7) years of clinical imaging experiencein an academic medical center environment in a variety of modalities (Diagnostic, Fluoro, CT, MRI, etc.)
Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer certification
