VCU Health System's Respiratory Care Services is seeking a part-time Respiratory Therapy Clinician 2 to provide safe and effective respiratory care as an advanced practitioner for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. To serve as acting supervisor (team leader) in the absence of a shift supervisor and to serve as a respiratory care resource for hospital staff and students.
Non-ordered ventilator parameters, i.e., peak flow, flow trajectory. Suctioning patients as required; selection of appropriate ventilators for patients; consulting with physicians and nurses regarding the appropriateness of the patient care plan; modifying staff assignments while an acting supervisor; call-in additional staff, when appropriate while an acting supervisor; and maintaining work areas in a clean and well stocked manner.
Approves overtime, work schedule changes and use of benefit time when functioning as acting supervisor.
Renting additional equipment as needed.
Every other weekend and shift rotation on occasion.
Graduate from an accredited Advanced Practitioner Respiratory Care Program
Licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
Currently a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and AHA-CPR required for Respiratory Therapists practicing in a Pediatric and/or Neonatal setting
Minimum of one (1) year experience functioning as a Respiratory Therapist
One (1) year working in a critical care environment
