VCU Health System's PEDS - Endocrinology is seeking a full time Clinical Nutrition II to competently provide and document nutrition care to patients as applicable to practice area.
Responsibilities
Nutrition care activities described in departmental policies /procedures. Cannot provide nutrition care to end stage (dialysis) renal patients until one year post registration. Communication with health care team/patient food service managers regarding patient needs. Provision of in-services to staff.
Provide classes to dietetic interns, if appropriate for rotation (e.g. nutrition support, orientation) as assigned.
Work weekends as assigned by supervisor.
Ability to work in a diverse environment.
Adherence to the Code of Ethics for the profession of dietetics and is accountable and responsible for actions and behavior.
Travel to satellite clinics (e.g. Stony Point, Hanover, etc.) when needed, as determined by supervisor.
Pediatric Outpatient positions: Flexibility regarding work hours to include evening appointments.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or related field from an accredited college or university
Registered as a Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
May be registry eligible, but must pass the RD exam within in the first 3-6 months of employment in the position
*Advancement from Clinical Nutrition I to a Clinical Nutrition II is mandatory by the end of the first year of employment.
Minimum of one (1) or more years of experience providing nutrition care in an acute care setting
Preferred
Outpatient positions: Specialty certification in the area of practice; Certificate in Training (Adult Weight Management, Childhood & Adolescent Weight Management); Motivational interview training
Experience with clinical research protocols for applicable positions
If the position is within the outpatient clinical area, experience in counseling in an acute care or outpatient care setting is desired
Experience with Nutrition Data Systems for Research (can be obtained as part of employment)
Certificate of Training in Childhood and Adolescent Weight Management (can be obtained as part of employment)
Motivational interviewing training
