High School graduate or equivalent required ROLE SUMMARY Works under the supervision of the Food and Nutrition Supervisor. Responsible for selection and collection of patient menus and delivering patient trays. Prepares Palm Pilots for use, prints menus tray line, works on the patient tray line. Communicates patients’ needs and food preferences to the Food and Nutrition Services staff. Receives and acts on diet orders and changes received for the nursing units. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Prepares computer and Palm Pilots, then collects, checks and prints the menus and prints diet sheets. 2. Delivers trays, snacks and other items to patients, giving assistance where needed, picks up trays and records intakes. 3. Answers and records telephone calls on the telephone log, receives computer generated diet changes, communicates messages and takes needed action. 4. Communicates with Nutrition Assistants, Diet Tech. and Dietitians about patient diets and requests. 5. Acts as an intermediary between patients and patient families and the Food and Nutrition Services Dept. 6. Updates nourishment list, prepares nourishment requests, box and sack lunches. 7. Works on the tray line. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES · Experience in institutional food service preferred · Good communication and guest relations skills · Capable of working well with others in a confined work space · Ability to interpret diet manual and menus · Ability to organize workload and use effective time management MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS · High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education and experience · 1-3 years commercial or institutional food service experience preferred.
