This position builds, manages, and maintains a “best-in-class” health care compliance and ethics program across all RTI Biologics, Inc., business groups and locations, including the Company’s interactions with health care professionals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (essential functions of position):
Manage all aspects of the company’s Health Care Compliance initiatives, including leadership and coordination of all HCC-related activites.
Implements and serves as Chair of the company’s global Health Care Compliance & Ethics Committee.
Ensures the company maintains up to date compliance processes related to the marketing and sale of company products, including federal and state health care fraud and abuse laws and regulations.
Manages, develops and delivers health care compliance training programs for new employees and distributors.
Develops and maintains a strong working knowledge of compliance related information, including the US Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the Anti-Kickback Statute (and the safe harbors developed in support of), the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, AdvaMed/Eucomed Codes, and other compliance and ethics related guidelines/best practices. Serves as Subject Matter Expert to RTI.
Develops and maintains all health care compliance standard operating procedures in support of the Company’s compliance policies.
Conducts risk assessments and adjusts Health Care Compliance Program initiatives in light of changes in company’s organizational needs, applicable laws, rules and regulations of U.S. and foreign governments.
With Health Care Compliance Committee, investigates and acts on suspected violations of applicable law and regulations and take appropriate corrective action, where appropriate and work with Human Resources to address employee discipline issues.
Conducts regular monitoring of company functions to measure Health Care Compliance Program effectiveness and company compliance with applicable laws.
Manages and monitors internal controls for identifying, tracking, reviewing, and approving payments and other transfers of value to physicians and other health care providers to meet transparency, disclosure and reporting requirements under applicable state, federal and international transparency (“Sunshine”) laws.
Develops and communicates updates on new or updated state, federal or international legislation affecting RTI Biologics.
Implements and monitors procedures for screening employees and agents against the exclusion lists published by the Office of Inspector General (“OIG”) for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the General Services Administration (“GSA”).
Leads all Health Care Compliance related due diligence efforts as part of the company’s M&A strategy
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:
BA or BS degree in business or related field required.
Minimum 7 years’ experience in business with at least 3 years in Health Care Compliance required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong working knowledge ofapplicable federal and international regulations pertaining to global medical device companies, including evaluating health care fraud and abuse issues in the sales and marketing of medical devices and biologics.
High integrity and ability to build strong collaborative relationships across all levels and functions at RTI.
Sound business judgment, strong influencing skills and ability to follow through in all areas of responsibility.
Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate with all levels in the organization
Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, assign priorities and ensure efforts are accomplished in a timely and efficient manner.
Ability and willingness to travel.
Proven ability to manage and motivate others and coordinate efforts to ensure efficient and successful outcomes.
Ability to work as an integral team member combining the strengths and abilities of a group to successfully accomplish corporate goals
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, specifically Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
