The Emergency Coordinator/Educator is a Registered Nurse with clinical and theoretical expertise in the nursing care of the emergency patient. Responsibilities include assisting the Director with, colleague supervision/staffing, colleague hiring, evaluations, and daily patient flow. . In the educator role, responsibilities include colleague orientation, education, and continual competency assurance for the Emergency Department. Responsibilities also include maintaining complete and accurate records, maintenance of supplies/equipment and assisting with the provision of day to day management of Emergency Departments.
MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT USED: Must be knowledgeable of all instruments, supplies used in the Emergency Department.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: • Currently licensed to practice in the state of Ohio. • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field preferred or must enroll after hire. • Maintains current BLS and ACLS certification. • ENA Certification required and must be maintained. • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with members of the health care team. • Five years clinical experience in the Emergency Room. • Demonstrated leadership ability and strong communication skills. • Previous experience in Nursing Education preferred • Must be able to work effectively with physicians, management/nursing staff and other departments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • Able to stand/walk for up to 7.75 hrs per shift. • Able to bend to reach items of floor, bedside level and stretch to reach overhead. • Tall enough to be able to reach over a bed far enough to give care and turn patients. • Able to lift 50 lbs intermittently, unassisted. • Able to move and ambulate patients, using good body mechanics, unassisted. • Ability to see clearly and hear normal speaking voices. • Able to communicate verbally interpersonally and over the telephone in a clear speech. • Dexterity necessary to write legibly. • Able to move freely throughout the organization. • Ability to see clearly and hear normal speaking voices. • Good physical health, ability to withstand extended periods of standing walking. • Must exhibit emotional stability, self-confidence and self-control.
