BASIC FUNCTION: Protect life and property on Alliance Community Hospital premises. Patrol buildings, lots, and grounds to protect from fire, thefts, and vandalism. Responsible to lock and unlock entrance doors. Respond to all security needs. Provide visible deterrence to crime.
JOB DUTIES: 1. Provide a visible deterrence to crime and prohibit detrimental activities by patrolling the buildings and grounds of Alliance Community Hospital. 2. Respond quickly and effectively to emergent and non-emergent situations. 3. Ensure only authorized personnel are admitted onto hospital premises. 4. Escort visitors, patients, and colleagues to and from parking areas when necessary. 5. Assist motorists who become stranded on hospital property. 6. Maintain current information in lost and found log. 7. Issue hospital keys to authorized hospital colleagues. 8. Respond to fire and all other codes. 9. Investigate incidents of unusual circumstances reported by hospital colleagues, visitors, physicians, or patients and complete a written report of the incident by end-of-shift. 10. Write accurate and legible reports and document investigative steps and results. 11. Respond to emergency calls for assistance to control disorderly conduct of combative persons. 12. Respond to emergency calls for assistance to help with patients, families, or visitors. 13. Patrol buildings and grounds: inspect doors, windows, and locks to determine level of security. 14. Patrol parking lots to detect any irregularities. 15. Inspect outgoing parcels as necessary to prevent theft. 16. Report all safety hazards observed on routine patrols and inspections. 17. Help with security training of new security officers. 18. Assist and provide courteous responses to any inquiry made by patients, visitors, or colleagues. 19. All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: High school graduate or equivalent, minimum 220 hours Private Security Training Certificate. Previous law enforcement/security experience preferred. Valid State of Ohio driver’s license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Must be able to lift minimum of 50 pounds. 2. Must be able to walk and/or stand for long periods of time. 3. Must be able to physically restrain a combative person. 4. Must be able to transport patients in wheelchairs and carts.
