Respiratory Care Practitioner II Position Overview

The Respiratory Care Practitioner II may enable the practitioner to perform respiratory care duties in the adult intensive care units, attend to patients in the ER and/or provide pediatric floor care if applicable.   

 

Responsibilities may also include management of blood gas labs, as assigned for specific job roles. 

  As the Respiratory Care Practitioner II at Asante you will have the opportunity to:

·        Work side by side with our medical professionals and develop the respiratory plan of care for our patients.

·        Assist the Adult Advanced Practitioner in the management of patients requiring invasive adult mechanical ventilation Grow, facilitate and coach a high performing team.

·        Work with Therapist driven protocols and a Rapid Response Team.

·        Be a part of a top 100 Cardiovascular hospital with a Level IIIa NICU and NICU Transport Team.

·        Work independently in the adult critical care units, upon completion of Respiratory Care Services' Critical Care Orientation, in addition to mastering all assigned competencies as outlined in RVMC Respiratory Care Services Competency Evaluation.  

QUALIFICATIONS

Education 

Associate's or Bachelor's in Respiratory Therapy preferred.

 

Experience 

·        Successful applicants should have experience specific to the posted Advanced Practitioner specialty position.  Such experience should indicate that the applicant would be able to demonstrate advanced competencies after completion of orientation(s).

  

Licensure

·        Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)

·        Respiratory Therapist (RT-P) licensed by Oregon Respiratory Therapist Licensing Board

·        Basic Life Support (BLS) certified by American Heart Association (AHA)

·        Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Instructor certification by the American Heart Association (AHA)

·        Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Instructor certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) preferred

·        Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified from American Heart Association preferred

 

Required Skills

·        Critical thinking skills are essential.  Advanced practitioners must have the ability to assess the patient/situation, analyze the data, formulate a plan, and then implement the plan.

·        Advanced practitioners must have effective communications skills.  In addition, the ability to function effectively in a team environment utilizing consistent and appropriate communication as both member and leader is essential.
