The MRI Tech performs diagnostic imaging studies and operates MRI equipment to make clinical diagnostic images as directed by physicians. The MRI Tech follows a procedure plan to optimize patient safety, diagnostic imaging quality and the efficient use of resources while achieving the diagnostic objective of the examination.
Certification/Licensure: Must be licensed in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) by the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) with certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or with certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) by the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).
If the license by the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) is in transition of renewal, the certification part of the license may need to be verified by the appropriate national agency: ARRT, ARDMS, ARMRIT, CCI or NMTCB.
Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) certified from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon start.
Experience: None outside of licensure. Preferred: Experience with CT; ability to start IV's and administer contrast material as directed by physician staff.
Other required qualifications include the ability to differentiate between normal and grossly abnormal imaging exams and take appropriate action; demonstrating a positive, professional and caring attitude in dealing with patients, families, physicians, physicians' offices and peers; ability to follow Asante Health System guiding values, mission and vision statements; ability to listen and follow oral and written instructions and to work independently; availability to take call on a rotational basis.
