This hospital laboratory provides support for a busy emergency department, surgical center, and 125 inpatient beds, as well as a strong outreach program and new outpatient center. Our staff of skilled professionals cover a full range of specialties in Hematology, Chemistry, and Blood Bank in addition to limited Microbiology and Pathology. The outreach work includes a broad spectrum of interesting challenges ranging from Oncology/Infusion services to veterinary testing. We also serve as a clinical site for CLA, MLT, and MLS students.
This is the perfect job for the applicant looking for a challenging position where there are always new learning and growth opportunities. Other highlights include:
- Sunquest/CoPath LIS system will transition to Epic Beaker in June 2016.
- Equipment includes Beckman Coulter DxI's, AU680's, and LH750's (transitioning to DxH), Cepheid GeneXpert, IL Top 500's, Siemens PFA, and a BacT/ 3D.
- Billable test volume is over 500,000 tests/year.

Education: Bachelor's degree in general science or related field required – or additional experience accepted in lieu of Bachelor's degree for grandfathered MT's certified by ASCP.
Experience: None outside of licensure is required.
Licensure/Certifications: One of the following is required:
- Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certified by the ASCP Board of Certification or equivalent (MT by AMT, HEW/HHS, CLS by CDPH, Medical Lab Specialist by US Military)
- Eligibility for Medical Laboratory Scientist MLS (ASCP) certification exam at time of hire, with successful completion of MLS (ASCP) certification exam within 6 months of hire.
Other required qualifications include good computer skills, the ability to organize tasks and workflow effectively; good attention to detail; good judgment, decision making, problem solving and communications skills; and the ability to communicate collaboratively with co-workers to enhance daily workflow and to maintain confidentiality regarding patient information in accordance with HIPPA guidelines.
