This on-call position is for the Emergency Department and requires flexibility to ALL shifts (days, evenings, nights) as well as some weekends and holidays as needed. To be considered, applicants must indicate this flexibility on the application when indicating shifts they are willing to work.
This position is also eligible for 15% Premium Pay for each hour worked as well as shift differentials for evening/night/ weekend hours.The Office Assistant 2, under immediate or general supervision, performs a variety of general clerical and support tasks including: answering, screening and directing phone calls; greeting patients, visitors and staff; and directing them to the appropriate individual. May provide some instructions or information according to defined procedures. Maintains files and filing systems. May assist with creating filing systems. Orders and maintains supplies and materials as directed. Processes incoming and/or outgoing mail. Performs routine data entry. May assist with scheduling patients for visits, procedures and/or tests. Operates variety of office equipment such as copier, fax and printer. Process routine forms and documents. May assist with more complex office support tasks such as report generation, cashiering and obtaining insurance information or information needed for billing process.
This position in Patient Registration focuses on assisting with scheduling patients for visits, procedures and/or tests and cashiering and obtaining insurance information or information needed for billing process. The Office Assistant 2 for Patient Registration will go through the formal registration training and will learn patient registration procedures and processes with the expectation of advancing up into the other patient registration positions such as Patient Access Specialist and Financial Access Specialist as they gain the knowledge required for those positions.
Education: High School graduate or equivalent including clerical courses is required. Keyboard proficiency of 45 wpm and the ability to use Microsoft Office (may include Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet) also required.
Experience: At least 6 months in an office/admin environment is required - with three or more years of experience in a busy office environment being preferred. Previous administrative experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is highly preferred.
Other required qualifications include knowledge of office practices and procedures; problem solving ability; ability to independently plan, organize, and implement multiple detailed tasks simultaneously while working in an environment with frequent interruptions; ability to communicate and interact appropriately with a variety of people while practicing diplomacy and tact; exceptional customer service skills, professionalism and confidentiality.
