This position will support Yankton, SD. or Mitchell, SD.

  

SUMMARY: The employee in this position assumes the responsibility for the provision of health care, medical management, and education of patients. He/She will work in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team of health care professional at the Avera Cancer Institute in Yankton and Mitchell within the Radiation Oncology department. The responsibilities of this position will include evaluation of the patient's health care during active treatment, intervening and treating conditions resulting from radiation therapy, and meeting with patients during their follow up visits to Avera Radiation Oncology.  He/She will also be collaborating with the physicians, advance practice providers and staff in medical oncology for cross coverage when needed.  Nurse Practitioners practice under the rules and regulations of the Nurse Practice Act of the state in which they work.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

·        Graduate of an NLN accredited school of nursing or equivalent; graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program required.

·        Master's or doctorate degree required.  

 

CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS: 

·        Licensure as a CNP and ability to practice in the state of South Dakota.

·        Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Dakota and/or meeting the requirements of Multi-state licensure required. 

·        Federal and State DEA certification is required for South Dakota if licensed in South Dakota. 

·        This position requires a valid driver's license and that the employee is insurable by the Avera Health automobile liability insurance carrier.

·        Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP) preferred.
