Reporting Relationship: Inpatient Clinical Nurse Manager
General Summary of Responsibilities: This position will be responsible to provide coordination and direct the nursing care model on the Patient Care Unit; supporting the philosophy of the unit as well as enhancing the continuous growth and development of systems and processes to ensure the delivery of safe, quality patient care across the continuum. Additionally, this future member of BBGH must support a positive environment of excellent patient care and world class customer service.
Essential Job Functions: Coordinates nursing tasks and functions and directs the nursing care model on the Patient Care Unit. Liaison for nurse manager and direct patient care staff. Effectively promotes interdepartmental equilibrium. Knowledge of medication administration and documentation in an electronic health record. Provides support for, and reinforce the pain management model adopted by the organization. Acts as a resource for clinical personnel. Assists nursing educators to identify educational needs of staff nurses. Communicates clearly and effectively with staff, providers, patients and their family members, and nursing management. Maintains the nursing knowledge and skills necessary to respond To emergency or life threatening clinical situations. Maintains/promotes an effective clinical area milieu with strong leadership and possesses the ability to manage stressful situations.
Demonstrate flexibility and effective organizational skills. Participates in performance improvement activities and other duties as assigned. Demonstrates knowledge of, and promotes nursing scope and standards of practice.
Empowers and encourages team members to take ownership of their individual professional growth. Performs and delegates patient care responsibly. Attends a minimum of 80% of meetings and 100% of mandatory continuing educating assigned to BBGH Patient Care Unit nurses.

Education: Graduate of an approved RN program. Preferred BSN or MSN.
Required: Five years of experience as a Charge Nurse or Team Leader in an acute care setting. Proficiency in keyboarding and knowledge of electronic health record systems.
Preferred: Formal leadership education or training experience in nursing.
Required: Graduate of an approved nursing program and holds a current Nebraska nursing license. ACLS within six months of hire date. NRP and PALS within one year of hire date.
Medical-Surgical Nurse Certification within two years of hire date.
Maintains licensure and certifications.
