JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes safety and well-being of all patients in their assigned department on a 24-hour basis by providing leadership which facilitates the coordination and delivery of nursing care for their designated area(s). Participates in the development, revision and implementation of hospital policies and procedures. Maintains open communication with all staff. This position requires a sound knowledge of nursing practice and exceptional leadership abilities.
Education: Graduate of an approved school of nursing; BSN preferred
Experience: Minimum of three to five years of progressive leadership experience coupled with three (3) years clinical nursing experience required
License/Registration: Unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina; BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) is required; ACLS, PALS, NRP certification required as applicable in specialty areas.
Other: Thorough knowledge of nursing standards, principles and procedures; excellent interpersonal skills with the focus on delivery of compassionate care; computer knowledge; and the ability to demonstrate customer-based focus during daily working relationships. Maintains all competencies required of an RN as defined in their job description.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires frequently: lifting 50 lbs from floor to waist and waist to eye level; pushing 40 lbs; pulling 80 lbs; standing; walking; repetitive trunk rotation-standing; manual dexterity; both handedness (both hands must be used) near vision; far vision; hearing (requires hearing whispered voice); Occasionally: one handed carrying 15lbs; work kneeling; work squatting/crouching; visual color discrimination; and visual depth perception. In the environment occasionally exposed to wetness; slippery surfaces; ionizing radiation and accident exposure.
