JOB SUMMARY The Pharmacy Technician II assists the pharmacists in performing a variety of technical duties related to the preparation and distribution of drugs. Demonstrates proficiency in IV preparation, chemotherapy, auditing, ordering from the wholesaler, and using the automated dispensing machines. Assists the pharmacist in entering medication orders and other related duties. Duties are performed under the supervision of a pharmacist. Performs other related duties as required.
Education: High School diploma or state high school equivalency certificate (GED)
Experience: Twelve months as Tech I or six months prior hospital experience preferred
Other: Must have passed technician certification test or on recommendation of pharmacist manager that has evaluated abilities to perform specialized job functions.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires considerable walking, standing, pushing mobile cart of 50 lbs and lifting 25 lbs. Frequently stretch, bend, twist, squat or kneel. Manual/finger dexterity to perform writing, typing and data entry. Use of both hands, vision/hearing corrected to normal range. Must be able to communicate effectively.
