- Primary Purpose: The physical therapist is responsible for care, safety, and well being of patients during assigned acts, and for observing all necessary precaution and procedures in use of equipment to prevent injury to the patient. The therapist is responsible for carrying out treatment in accordance with the physicians or dentists prescription and for observing all hospital patients. The therapist is responsible for care of equipment economical use of supplies, linens, utilities, and cleanliness of the department area.
Formal Supervisory Responsibility: No formal supervisory responsibility. In conjunction with Physical Therapy Manager, oversees and directs activities of Physical Therapist Assistant.
Required Knowledge: Basic computer knowledge; Knowledge of physical medicine, physical therapy modalities, anatomy and physiology; Knowledge of physical therapy machine operation, maintenance and repairs of same.
Required Skills and Ability: Ability to maintain control and respond calmly and positively during crisis situations (i.e., Code Blue); Ability to work closely with physicians, department heads, and nursing service. Ability to exercise good judgment; willing to work others; able to receive and carry out orders; maintains optimum physical and mental health; and interested in caring for the sick. Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency of physical therapy modalities.
Education and Certification/ Registration Required for the Position: Current state Physical Therapy licensure; Graduate of an approved school of Physical Therapy or graduate of accredited college or university with a certificate in Physical Therapy; Current BCLS (CPR) certification.
