    The Department Assistant is performs all routine office and clerical duties related to the operation of
    assigned department. This position provides clerical support to all department staff.
    Note: This position may handle medication that is delivered by the Pharmacy, either directly or via
    the pneumatic tube system, and may transport the medication to an appropriate storage area or to
    another employee who is qualified to administer medication.

    At least two years general office experience.
    Accurate typing skills.
    Excellent telephone etiquette, communication, and public relations skills.
    Experience delegating and coordinating workload for other staff.
    Proficient user of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
    Demonstrated ability to work independently and under stressful circumstances while remaining calm.

    High school diploma or equivalent.  College or business school graduate is preferred.

    Preferred: Desktop publishing experience. Transcription experience. Proficiency in the following software tools: KRONOS, Lawson, and HBI. Knowledge of medical terminology.
