EMT Advanced Ground Transport
The EMT Advances, under the direction of the Operational Medical Director, performs care appropriate to the patient population served and meets routine and life-threatening patient care needs. The EMT may be required to respond under routine or emergency conditions; assess the scene for hazards; triage multiple patients, especially in mass casualty situations; provide assessment, stabilization and treatment of life-threatening conditions utilizing skills within the EMT scope of practice, and within the protocols set forth by the Regional EMS Council and / or the Operational Medical Director. The EMT will also provide routine, non-emergent care and transportation to patients as needed by ambulance, wheelchair van, or other transportation sources as deemed appropriate.
This position requires a successful completion "pass" of a job function match test. The test uses standardized methodology to avoid unsafe situations by identifying mismatches between the physical requirements of the job and physical capabilities of the prospective job candidate.
Educational Requirements - High School Diploma or GED
Experience Requirements - 0-2 years as an EMT Advanced or EMT Intermediate
Certification/Licensure Requirements
Virginia EMT Advanced or Intermediate certification
American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR
American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support
American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support
VAVRS or VDFP EVOC. Must recertify every 5 years.
FEMA ICS 100, 200, and 700
PHTLS within the first year of employment
AMLS within the first year of employment.
Hazardous Materials Awareness required within the first year of employment.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program within first year of employment
