Plans, coordinates and carries out risk management initiatives and programs for Med Center Health entities. Reviews incident reports, compiles and reports statistical information and tracks and trends incidents and injuries in order to identify and develop strategies for prevention. Works closely with the other members of the Legal Affairs department in identifying risk issues and developing policies and education for clinical staff in regard to same. Reports significant patient and visitor injuries to the Vice President of Legal Affairs. Interfaces with management on risk management education and strategies. Assists in management of claims as assigned.
Four years of healthcare risk management experience and five years of clinical RN experience in an acute care setting required with demonstrated leadership skills. Five years of previous legal experience preferred. Previous experience in supervision or management, including planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of healthcare risk management programs or policies preferred.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in related field or Juris Doctor (JD) from a law school approved by the American Bar Association or the Association of American Law Schools preferred.
Licensed Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Kentucky required. Associate of Risk Management (ARM) and/or Certified Professional in Health Care Risk Management (CPHRM) designation preferred. ARM or CPHRM required within 18 months of hire. Membership in the State Bar as an attorney qualified to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky preferred.
