  • Summary

    The RN residency Program is a full time RN position with a 6 months orientation to assist the new graduate nurse transition to become a competent practitioner at CRH. The program is designed to enhance your nursing knowledge, refine your nursing skill, and develop personal and professional relationship in a collaborative environment. This program includes a comprehensive curriculum that is presented in a variety of educational styles which include presentations, lecture series and clinical rotations to ancillary departments.

    Attendance is mandatory for all classroom sessions.

    The Registered Nurse (RN) is expected to provide excellent, clinically competent patient care by utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation; and effectively interact with patients, significant others, and the other healthcare team members while maintaining standards of professional nursing. The RN also determines the effectiveness of nursing interventions by evaluating outcomes in relation to evidenced-based intervention. The primary focus of the RN is to ensure every patient receives quality care and services through the efficient use of resources. The RN functions within the scope and standards of nursing as defined by the American Nurses Association and the Nurse Practice Act of Virginia. As a member of the healthcare team, the RN is responsible for making decisions and performing services that are in the best interest of the patient; while positively contributing to the patient's experience and the success of the entire team by placing the patient and the team above the needs of the individual.

    Clinical experience (Care Partner, LPN, Medical Assistant) preferred.

    Candidates for the Nurse Residency Program must:

    - Have graduated from an accredited school of nursing or have a pending graduation by the end of the current


    - Achieved an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

    - Clinical experience (Care Partner, LPN, Medical Assistant) preferred.

    - BSN prepared or agree to obtain your BSN within 3 years of employment.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    Obtained or working towards R.N. Licensure.; Must have current BLS Certification.

    To support professional growth, RN Residents are required to follow the customized schedule designed by their preceptor/clinical coach. They must attend scheduled educational offerings and career development sessions. The RN Resident must also sign a 3 year commitment to the organization.
