Job Details:

    These duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis; other tasks maybe assigned.

    §  Patient Collections:

    o    Maintain Accounts Receivables at no more than 48 days

    o    Address each account greater than 30 days in Account Receivables in a timely manner, researching the account to assess any outstanding indications for the lack of payment on the account

    o    Make all related corrections to the claim allowing the claim to be re-submitted within an appropriate time frame

    o    Prepare and review patient statements weekly

    o    For self-pay balances, research contact numbers and make personal contact with the patient to discuss payment arrangements

    o    Personal payment arrangements must be acceptable and all attemptss hould be made to have the patient pay via telephone credit cards

    o    Collect and prepare accounts that meet Collection Agency criteria;document and follow up on accounts that have been transferred to Collections

    o    Remain proficient in electronic and paper claim submission rulest o various carriers

    o   Demonstrate working knowledge of electronic claim filing

    o   Familiar with payer and federal regulations and compliance requirements to avoid denials and non-payment byinsurance

    o   Review insurance denials and make necessary changes to ensure that the claim is paid

    o   Monitor insurance regulations and federal compliance requirements

    o   Identify resources to trace trends in reimbursements

    o   Submit secondary claims asappropriate

    o   Receive and respond to inquiries via phone, in writing or in person; these responses are to include completer eview of accounts in question for pertinent billing, insurance, and collection information

    o   Serve as a liaison between the patient, insurance company, and providers; act as a patient advocate

    o   Document all customer inquiries /actions in precise, complete and accurate language in billing system on the account level

    §  Payment posting:

    o    Ensure Accounts Receivable records are maintained in a confidential manner and in accordance with standard accounting procedures.

    o    Create deposits and process via web capture deposit procedures

    o    Process insurance payments to patient accounts in billing system

    o    Reconcile and balance pay batches

    o    Compute total SCC bill showing amounts to be paid by insurance and by patient

    o    Organize and scan all documents to server for back up

    §  Communication:

    o    Answer the telephone in a timely and professional manner with the appropriate greeting and identification protocols

    o    Support co-workers in assisting with phones and be attentive andresponsive to the needs of patients, physicians, and other customers

    o    Have excellent language skills and obtain information from patient in a professional, friendly manner

    o    Demonstrate sensitivity and tactfulness with patients and other customers

    o    Ensure that all documentation is clear, concise, and fully understandable

    o    Maintain a positive attitude towards all customers, whether internal or external, and management

    o    Be alert and enthusiastic to create a warm and friendly environment for patients

    Educationand Experience


    Minimum Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent


    Preferred Education: Course(s) in Medical Terminology


    Experience: One (1) or more years' current hospital or medical office experience is required
