Job Details:
  • The Activities Assistant is responsible for implementing activities for individuals and groups of residents in accordance with the residents' identified needs, capabilities, and interests. The Activities Assistant works with the Activities team, as well as other departments, to assess and meet the residents' needs by delivering multidisciplinary services. The Activities Assistant must be capable of physically assisting residents and dealing with resident emergencies.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    These duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis; other tasks may be assigned.

    §  Provide residents with daily activities as prepared by the activity team.

    §  Assist in developing a therapeutic activities program consistent with the identified needs of the residents.

    §  Remain able to work independently and be self-motivated.

    §  Communicate with residents, families, activities staff, and other facility staff.

    §  Communicate new needs or changes in residents to the Activities Lead.

    §  Assist residents safely to and from activity programs and outings.

    §  Assist and work with volunteers in order to help them best assist residents in activities.

    §  Wear facility identification badge at all times while on duty.

    §  Be an able leader in group settings; organize, instruct, and maintain a timely schedule.

    §  Maintain a good rapport with family members and encourage family support in programs.

    §  Generate new ideas for changes in activities and demonstrate a willingness to try new tasks.

    §  Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services

    §  Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care

    Education and Experience

    Minimum Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent

    Experience: One (1) or more years' experience in a qualified specialty older adult program is preferred
