The Staff Research Associate I, under supervision, performs routine, technical laboratory procedures that require special training and skill, and usually has a theoretical background in one scientific field; or performs non-routine or a wide variety of routine, technical laboratory procedures but without (or before having demonstrated) the speed, resourcefulness, ingenuity, adaptability, or other qualities required in the performance of such duties at the Staff Research Associate II level.
This position will assist with a recombinant DNA vector production to complete an ambitious project to create targeted mutations in over 5,000 mouse genes. Funding is secured for 11 months.
Minimum Education: BA/BS with a major in an applicable natural science.
Knowledge/Skills: Under general direction, performs a wide variety of routine laboratory procedures or performs non-routine procedures in a specialized field with resourcefulness and adaptability to special and changing needs of research or performs a limited variety of routine but highly specialized laboratory procedures. Experience and interests in recombinant DNA technology, understanding of molecular genetics and an ability to record and report experimental data in well maintained lab journals
