  • The Pre Service Representative is directly responsible to the Patient Access Supervisor-Pre Service. The Pre Service Representative performs duties related to scheduling and pre registration for upcoming services assuring a smooth process for the patient. The Pre Service Representative is responsible for obtaining orders from physicians for scheduled tests and assuring exams are scheduled accordingly. The Pre Service Representative provides clear and accurate instructions/information to the patients regarding their upcoming procedure.(S)he is responsible to verify insurance eligibility and assure required authorizations are in place. (S)he is responsible for entering complete and accurate data utilizing computer technology. S(he) interviews and gathers information from the patient, doctor’s office, insurance company and government agencies. (S)he is a benefit specialist and is able to clearly explains financial responsibility to patients/guarantors and make arrangements with patients to pay their estimated amount due. (S)he is able to identify the underinsured/uninsured patients and provide them with information regarding available programs or financial assistance. (S)he maintains knowledge of the hospitals , scheduling, admitting, transfer and discharge functions and when necessary may be required to cover registration duties including, obtaining necessary signatures on financial agreements, consents and admissions agreements, generating appropriate paperwork and placing hospital identification bands on patients according to procedure.

    Requirements:

    High school graduate or equivalent. 2) Excellent communication skills. 3) Clerical experience (typing, filing, answering phones, office equipment) 4) Ability to maintain a positive professional demeanor in a demanding environment. 5) Basic computer skills. 6) Excellent customer service skills. 7) Ability to interpret insurance benefits, including discounts and calculate estimated patient portions due. 8) Understand and is able to explain insurance reimbursement. 9) Knowledge and experience with medical terminology. 10) Two years experience in healthcare of insurance environment.

    Preferences:

    1) Working knowledge of insurance requirements, including authorization processes. 2) Understanding of diagnosis and procedure coding.
