The Health Information Technology Buyer reports to the Assistant Director of Health Information Technology and expedites the flow of materials according to production delivery schedules and requester's priorities. Reviews and communicates all related information that assists with product concerns and problem resolution (e.g. product substitution and expediting orders and deliveries). Creates purchase orders, place orders, tracks and reviews inventory according to department priorities and policy. Gauges amount of materials needed to complete order requests by applying knowledge of the product, manufacturing and vendor delivery processes. Works closely with management and the department's Information Technology Asset Manager in preparing for vendor negotiations on products and pricing. Compiles and maintains manual and computerized records such as vendor information, packing slip, in-process reports, status of items, recalls, usage, etc. Coordinates moves and transportation of items/materials. Examines material delivered, verifying package/material integrity and specifications. Coordinates product return/s and or recall/s. Works closely with finance on invoice reconciliation and purchase order discrepancies. Ensures approval for Capital Equipment Requests (CERF) is received with all proper pricing validations to complete purchase order and deliveries. Manage key supplier relationships in concert with Vendor Management and Group Purchasing Organization. Ensures competitive pricing, utilizing price comparison tools and resources. Develops and reports performance with the use of metrics.


Experience with Infor/Lawson MMIS. Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite. Basic understanding of accounting procedures. Strong organizational and multitasking skills with a high level of integrity, leadership and teamwork skills. The ability to learn new systems and processes in a timely manner. Self-starter with the ability to work independently under pressure and react quickly to changing priorities. Meticulous attention to detail.



Familiarity with applications such as: GHX, ECRI, Marketplace Procure, Price Lynx, Novation/Aptitude. Contract negotiation strategies and techniques. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Healthcare resource and supply chain experience. Lean Six Sigma and 6S Standards Training and Certifications preferred. ITIL certification.
