DUTIES: The role of this position is to research, plan, develop, implement and evaluate education and healthcare services for bariatric patients. The Bariatric Program Coordinator's responsibilities are to: establish, monitor, and update processes and related policies and procedures: Collaborate with personnel to facilitate accurate and efficient flow of patient through the healthcare system: Assist in the development of educational and public relation material: Represent program as public speaker. Act as a resource for patient care and processes related to the program. The incumbent is guided by a broad knowledge of current nursing theories and practices, research methodology, computer applications, familiarity with organization and department functions and knowledge of principles of leadership, management and education. This position requires flexibility of work hours. QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelors Degree Nursing required. Masters Degree preferred. Current licensure as R.N. in New York State. ASMBS CBN certification required or must be working toward certification. 2 years recent clinical experience with bariatric population in a medical/surgical setting or ambulatory surgery setting. 3-5 years experience in a leadership role. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to communicate in a tactful, diplomatic way. Ability to initiate projects and to carry out day to day operations with a minimum of amount of supervision. Ability to handle information with strict confidentiality. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Flexibility with working hours is necessary.
