Pharmacy Technician is responsible for responding to patients needs for medication and utlizing technical preparation skills to compound, manufacture and assimilate the medication necessary for the operation of all pharmaceutical services at Children's of Alabama. A Pharmacy technician must be able to work efficiently and accurately while following diversified departmental policies and procedures while under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. The practice will be governed by the standards of institutional hospital pharmacy as stated by the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy.
Alabama State Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration or Alabama State Board Extern/Intern License required
A minimum of one (1) year of college with emphasis on math courses and/or minimum of one (1) year experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy
A working knowledge of chemical and physical properties of pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical-medical terms.
Capable of obtaining the lively of competency necessary to complete the following Children's of Alabama formal training programs: Aseptic Technique Training Program, Safe Handling of Cytotix Drugs, Out-Patient Pharmacy
Experience in a hospital pharmacy, pharmacy inventory, OR Surgery area, and Pyxix preferred.
