Job Summary: The Emergency Department Educator for the EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT should exemplify professional nursing practice. He/she functions autonomously and as a member of the EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT Leadership Team to meet the clinical education needs of the EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT. The primary responsibility of this role is to support the development of our clinical staff, advancing competency to Emergency Nursing level. They will function as a practitioner, educator, consultant, and evidence-based practice leader.
The Emergency Department Educator leader is responsible for the needs assessment, design and development, delivery and evaluation of in-service programs, orientation and continuing education for clinical and ancillary staff within EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT. They will be responsible for the development of education policies and procedures; serve as a resource to staff and management; participate in quality and performance improvement activities; and serve on committees as needed.
Current State of Maine Registered Nurse license.
5 years of relevant Emergency Nursing experience preferred, two years clinical educator experience preferred.
BSN required, Master's degree in nursing preferred.
Current certification in BCLS and ACLS, TNCC and ENPC or PALS required, trainer level certifications and CEN preferred.
Proficient computer knowledge specific to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to operate equipment: projectors, audiovisual equipment, cameras, other equipment used in instruction and patient care.
Proficiency in the educational process of needs determination, design/development, delivery, assessment outcomes/QI, and documentation.
Excellent presentation skills.
