Job Summary: The RN in the OR provides direct patient care following the nursing process and the recommended practices of AORN. She/he addresses the psychosocial, physical and a general aspect of care related to the surgical environment and communicates with surgeon and anesthesia provider regarding patient condition and needs. Assesses operating room for equipment functioning and readiness, obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of surgical operating team are met. Monitors, positions and assists patient during procedure. Supervises Surgical Technologist, and any other personnel/visitors in the Operating Room. Regulatory Requirements: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current state Registered Nurse Licensure, within State of Maine. Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required. ACLS competency/certification recommended. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Skills: Basic computer knowledge. Excellent customer service skills.
